Adebayo Olukoshi

Adebayo Olukoshi is a researcher and distinguished professor at the Wits School of Governance from the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa. He has more than 35 years of experience in the field of international relations, governance and human rights. Until 2021, he has been director at the Regional Office for Africa and West Asia of the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA). He has also been director of the United Nations African Institute for Economic Development and Planning (IDEP) in Dakar; Senior Research Fellow at the Nordic Africa Institute (NAI), executive secretary at the Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa (CODESRIA); director of Research and Studies at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs and director at the African Governance Institute (AGI). He has won various awards and honorary positions. He has published several articles, including Democratic Governance and Accountability in Africa (2011). He is currently Board Chair at the European Centre for Development Policy Management (ECDPM).
