Carla Fibla García-Sala

Carla Fibla García-Sala is a journalist, writer and analyst specialised in Africa and the Middle East. She has lived and travelled through the Maghreb and the Middle East for more than 15 years, opening two correspondents’ offices for Cadena SER and La Vanguardia. She holds a degree in Journalism and she specialised in International Information and Southern countries. At the age of 22 she settled in Cairo (Egypt) where she began her professional career working as a freelance journalist for several media. She worked for Diario 16 (Madrid) and Euronews (Lyon-France), and has collaborated in the launching of several online journalistic projects such as El Estado Mental or Contexto, as well as advising NGOs such as Action Against Hunger, Fundación Vicente Ferrer or Amnesty International and institutions focused on development cooperation (AECID, FIIAAP). She has published six books of essays and interviews on the subjects in which she has specialised during more than 25 years, including migration, human rights, democracy and governance. In 2021, she worked as a correspondent for Mundo Negro magazine and the newspaper El País from South Africa, covering the area of Southern Africa.
