Ochy Curiel
Ochy Curiel is an activist and anthropologist. A theorist on Latin American feminism, she is a spokesperson for autonomous, lesbian, anti-racist and de-colonial feminism. She has published several articles on racial, gender and sexuality intersectionality, including The Straight Nation – An Analysis of Legal Discourse and the Heterosexual Regime from the Anthropology of Domination (La Nació Recta: Anàlisi del discurs jurídic i el règim heterosexual des de l’antropologia de la dominació, GLEFAS, 2013) and The De-colonisation and De-patriarchalisation of and from the Feminisms of Abya Yala (Descolonització i despatriarcalizació de i des dels feminismes de Abya Yala, ACSUR- Las Segovias, 2015). An expert in social anthropology, she currently teaches at the National University of Colombia and the Pontifical Xavierian University. She is also an organiser of the Globale Bogotá festival which promotes video documentaries with critical and emancipatory viewpoints.
