Silvia Carrasco

Silvia Carrasco is director of the Knowledge and Technology Transfer (KTT) program at the Institute of Photonic Sciences (ICFO) and vice-president of the SPIE Chair for Diversity in Photonic Sciences. Doctor from the UPC, she has completed two postdoctoral stays, at Boston University and at Harvard University, where she did research on the applications of photonics in biotechnology. She created the KTT unit of the ICFO, in charge of innovation, technology transfer and dissemination activities. Currently, she is part of the board of directors of several companies derived from the ICFO, and has extensive experience in disclosure and intellectual property rights. Manages a corporate liaison program and a portfolio of more than one hundred patent families. She has created the LaunchPad of the ICFO, an incubator for emerging companies in deep technology, from which eleven spin-off companies have been launched in various stages of incubation. She received the Fem Talent Award in 2013 and the City of Castelldefels Award for Economy and Innovation in 2019.
