Dialogue: the role of the media in the emergence and rise of the far right
Within the 50th IDEES magazine special issue, ‘Defending democracy: civil and political rights at risk in the 21st century‘, the Centre for Contemporary Studies, together with the Office of Civil and Political Rights, kick off a round table to analyze the role of the media in the emergence and rise of the far right in Spain.
The event will be held online on January, 27 at 6.00 PM and can be followed live on the Youtube channel of the Ministry for Foreign Action, Institutional Relations and Transparency.
Panelists:
- Neus Tomàs, journalist, deputy director of Eldiario.es. She contributes to several media such as RAC1, TV3, Catalunya Ràdio, La Sexta, RNE or Cadena SER.
- David Karvala, activist and one of the spokesmen for the Unity Against Fascism and Racism platform. Member of the anti-capitalist network Marx21.net and author of the book El antifascismo del 99%: La lucha unitaria contra el racismo y la extrema derecha (2019).
- Jordi Borràs, photojournalist focused on national and far-right movements that operate both in Catalonia and throughout Europe.
Adam Majó, director of the Office of Civil and Political Rights, will moderate the debate.
