Blanca Garcés

Blanca Garcés is senior fellow on migration and research coordinator at CIDOB (Barcelona Centre for International Affairs). Doctor cum laude in Social Sciences from the University of Amsterdam and graduate in History and Anthropology from the University of Barcelona, she received the award for best PhD in sociology defended in the Netherlands in 2009 and 2010. She has worked on the policies of immigration to Malaysia and Spain, the policymaking of integration policies from a multilevel perspective, political discourses around immigration and irregular migration from a comparative perspective. Between 2010 and 2016 she was postdoctoral researcher Juan de la Cierva and visiting professor at Pompeu Fabra University. She is associate professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Barcelona and member of the European IMISCOE network. She is currently working on refugee policies and discourses from a comparative European perspective. Together with Rinus Penninx, he has just published a book on the concept and policies of integration in Europe (Springer, 2016).
