Celia Murias Morcillo
Celia Murias Morcillo holds a degree in Communication Sciences and a Master’s degree in International Relations and African Studies from the Autonomous University of Madrid. She has worked in the field of development cooperation in sub-Saharan Africa and as a researcher in the field of food sovereignty, the phenomenon of land grabbing and the political economy of mineral extraction in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. She is editor and founding member of the online analysis magazine Africaye.org. She is also a regular contributor to Pikara Magazine. Her areas of research include political economy and ecology, natural resource mining, human rights, social movements, gender issues and feminism. She is currently working on social and political changes in Uganda related to the growing presence of the extraction of natural resources (oil and gas), focusing on its impact on fundamental rights.
