David Fernàndez

David Fernàndez is a journalist and social activist. During the period 2012-2015, he was MP in the Parliament of Catalonia for Candidatura d’Unitat Popular (CUP). He is a member of the Ramon Barnils Group of Journalists and the Solidarity Economy network (xarxa d’Economia Solidària). Since 2003, he is part of Coop75, an ethical and solidarity finance credit cooperative. In 2014 he was appointed chairman of the parliamentary committee of inquiry into tax fraud and evasion and political corruption practices. He is the editor of the weekly publication La Directa, where he coordinates the research section “Estirant del Fil”. As a journalist, he has contributed to several media such as Vilaweb, Gara, Berria or Media.cat. He authored the book Cròniques del 6 i altres retalls de la claveguera policial (2006) and Foc a la barraca (2013), a collection of articles he has written over the past few years. Recently, he took part in the project “Ovidi 3”, a musical tribute to the songwriter Ovidi Montllor on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of his death. He is also a member of Entrepobles and participates in the Catalan Coordinator for the Prevention and Reporting of Torture.
