David Held

David Held (1951-2019) was a sociologist, professor of Political Science at the Graham Wallas Chair in Political Science at the London School of Economics (LSE), professor of Political Science and International Relations at Durham University, director of the Institute of Global Policy and of the University College in Durham. He was the co-founder and director of Polity Press (1984) and editor-in-chief of the Global Policy Journal. His main research interests were the study of globalization, the changing forms of democracy, and the perspectives of global and regional governance. He has authored numerous articles and more than 60 books, including Globalization/Anti-Globalization (2007), Cosmopolitanism: Ideals and Realities (2010), Climate Governance in the Developing World (2013) and Beyond Gridlock (2017).
