Elisabet Almeda Samaranch

Elisabet Almeda Samaranch is Professor of Sociology at the University of Barcelona. She is also member of COPOLIS research association and belongs to Adalquí, a Legal, Social and Cultural Action Group. She is member of Feministes per la Independència (Feminists for Independence) from Ca la Dona, a Catalan feminist organization. She is a feminist activist and researcher focused on imprisoned women’s rights and monomarental mothers. She has carried out research work in three main areas: criminal enforcement systems (social control, female crime, women’s prisons); family changes and policies (single parents, broken unions, comparative family policies) and memory and identity during the Franco’s dictatorship (daily life and resistance).
