Farid Samir Benavides Vanegas is a lawyer and philosopher. He holds a PhD in Law from Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona and a PhD in Political Science from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. He has been lecturer at the National University of Colombia, the University of The Andes and Blanquerna University. He is currently an associate lecturer and researcher in the Faculty of Law at the Catholic University of Colombia. He has been vice-minister of Criminal Policy and Restorative Justice, and advisor to the Attorney General and the minister of Justice of Colombia. He is currently an Assistant Magistrate of the Appeals Section at the Colombian Peace Tribunal. Some of his most recent publications are La Verdad, las confesiones judiciales y la memoria del conflicto en el proceso de justicia transicional de Colombia (2022), Derecho penal y criminología: sus transformaciones jurídicas. Libro Homenaje a Roberto Bergalli (2021) and Derecho Penal Internacional (2017).
