Gemma Torres Delgado

Gemma Torres Delgado is a lecturer in the Department of Contemporary History and Modern World at the University of Barcelona. She has a degree in Humanities, and on 2016 she obtained a PhD in contemporary history at the same university. Her lines of research revolve around colonial and postcolonial studies, gender studies, and contemporary masculinities. She is a member of the Multiculturalism and Gender Research Group of the Center for International Historical Studies at the University of Barcelona (GREC-CEHI). She has participated in various university research projects on gender and immigration, tourism and gender and women’s history. Together with Mary Nash, she has published the books Los límites de la diferencia. Alteridad cultural, género y prácticas sociales (2009) and Feminismos en la Transición (2009). Among his most recent publications there are also “La nación viril. Imágenes masculinas de España en el africanismo reaccionario después de la derrota de Annual” (2017), “Emociones viriles y la experiencia de la nación imperial en las Guerras del Rif” (2020) and “La virilitat d’Espanya a l’Àfrica. Masculinitat i nació al colonialisme espanyol al Marroc” (2020).
