Hansel Obando

Hansel Obando is a Colombian artist and illustrator specialised in the collage technique. His work focuses on what he describes as “microuniverses,” in which nature is the main character through themes of mysticism, ancient rituals, and non-western religious practices. His work questions the consumerism of natural resources and advocates for the protection of the most vulnerable communities, such as Colombia’s Indigenous and Afro-Colombian populations. He is currently working on a body of work on cosmogony, storytelling and oral histories of the Colombia’s Indigenous peoples. Since 2015, he has focused on analogue and digital collage.
