Karina Batthyány

Karina Batthyány is the Executive Secretary of CLACSO, an international network created in 1967 with associative status in the UNESCO that brings together more than 800 research and postgraduate centers of 55 different countries in Latin America and other continents. She holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines (France). Since 1992, she has been a lecturer at the University of the Republic in Uruguay (UDELAR): she is currently a full professor of research methodology as well as of gender sociology, and a researcher in the Department of Sociology being part of the Faculty of Social Sciences. Between the years 2010 and 2017, she was coordinator of the Master in Sociology and now coordinates the PhD in Sociology. She is a member of the Uruguayan National Research System and a consultant to various international organizations such as ECLAC, UN Women, ILO and EUROSOCIAL. She has written numerous publications on the topics of social welfare, gender, public policy, unpaid work and care work.
