Leila Nachawati Rego

Leila Nachawati Rego is a writer of Syrian father and Galician mother, a human rights activist and specialist in the Middle East and North Africa. She works at the Association for the Advancement of Communications, an international and feminist network that promotes social justice through ITC. She also teaches about violence, media and citizen participation at Carlos III University in Madrid, where she holds his PhD. In 2013 she founded, together with a group of Syrian journalists, developers and designers, the SyriaUntold portal, a website that shows the daily resistance of the Syrian population and its artistic and cultural production. His first novel, Cuando la revolución termine, is a tribute to the Syrian people and the populations of the southern Mediterranean. She regularly collaborates in media such as Global Voices, Al Jazeera English, El Mundo and Eldiario.es. She has participated, among others, in meetings such as Women4CHange and Women Who Transform the World.
