Michel Wieviorka is a sociologist, currently one of the most famous and media-exposed voices of the French intellectual arena and one of the most highly reputed social scientists in the world. He is the President of Maison des Sciences de l’Homme Foundation and director of studies at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris. Wieviorka has written extensively on the notions of conflict, terrorism and violence, as well as on the study of racism, social movements and multiculturalism. He authored several articles and books such as Racisme et modernité (2013), Violence: A New Approach (2009), The arena of racism (1995) or The Making of Terrorism (1993).
