Ricard González Samaranch is a journalist and political scientist specialised in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. He graduated in Political Science from Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona in 2001 and later earned a Master of Arts in International Relations with a focus on the Middle East from Johns Hopkins University thanks to a La Caixa scholarship. His career as a correspondent began in 2005 in Washington. In 2011 he moved to Egypt and in 2015 to Tunisia, where he worked as a correspondent for the newspapers El País and Diari ARA, while contributing to other media outlets such as Al Jazeera, BBC and Foreign Policy. He is the author of the book Ascens i caiguda dels Germans Musulmans (UOC, 2015) and has written many in-depth articles in the field of international relations for the journal Política Exterior as well as for the think tanks CIDOB and Fundación Alternativas.
