Joan Pino holds a PhD in Biology from the University of Barcelona (UB) and a Master’s in Geographic Information Technologies from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). He is currently a Full Professor of Ecology at the UAB and Director of the Catalan Center for Ecological Research and Forestry Applications (CREAF). His research has focused on landscape-biodiversity relationships in particularly humanised environments, such as metropolitan areas, and their implications for land planning and conservation. Also noteworthy is his work on biological invasions in Catalonia and his role in coordinating the EXOCAT database.
