Amanda Gouws is professor of Political Science and holds a SARChI Chair in Gender Politics at the Stellenbosch University in South Africa. She was a former Commissioner at the South African Commission for Gender Equality and she is member at the Academy of Science of South Africa (ASSAF). She has received several awards, including the award for the best political psychology book that she co-authored, entitled Overcoming Intolerance in South Africa: Experiments in Democratic Persuasion<\/em> (2003). She is also the editor of the book (Un)Thinking Citizenship: Feminist Debates in Contemporary South Africa<\/em> (2005). She has published several articles linking South African politics with gender politics.
