Kate Esther Calvert (Brockley, 1985), best known as Kate Tempest, is an English poet, spoken word performer, dramatist, rapper and playwright. In\u00a02013, she was awarded with the prestigious Ted Hughes poetry prize\u00a0for her compilation\u00a0Brand New Ancient<\/em>s, in acknowledgement of\u00a0her innovative point of view in the genre. In\u00a0May 2014, she released her first album,\u00a0Everybody Down<\/em>, by\u00a0which she was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize.
