He is Director of the Centre for Demographic Studies (CED) and Research Director at the Department of Sociology of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). He has carried out research stays at institutions such as the University of Minnesota, the Institut National d\u2019\u00c9tudes D\u00e9mographiques (Paris), and Princeton University. His research focuses on couples, marriage markets, and household structures, adopting a comparative international perspective. He currently leads the ERC Advanced Grant project <em>CORESIDENCE<\/em>, while also serving as Rector of the European Doctoral School of Demography. He has played a key role in the dissemination and harmonization of census microdata, in collaboration with the Population Center at the University of Minnesota.
