J\u00fcrgen Habermas is a philosopher and sociologist, recognized worldwide for his work in the field of practical philosophy, deliberative democracy and the public sphere. He has been a professor at the University of Heidelberg from 1961 to 1964 and from then onwards at the University of Frankfurt. He is the leading representative, along with Theodor Adorno, of the second generation of the sociological school in Frankfurt. From Hegel and Marx, their philosophy seeks the emancipation of man through a dialectical movement. His thinking has had a decisive influence on the international student movement. He is the author of Theory and Practice<\/em> (1963), On the Logic of the Social Sciences<\/em> (1967) and Knowledge and Human Interests<\/em> (1971). He has distinguished himself as a defender of the enlightened project against those who, from postmodern positions, claim his death.
