What are their perceptions and expectations vis-\u00e0-vis the Asian superpower? What do they make of Xi Jinping&#8217;s China image on issues like democracy, human rights, Hong Kong or Taiwan? On Friday 4 June, at 11 AM (CEST), Pablo Pareja, coordinator of IDEES&#8217; magazine special issue on China, will moderate a conversation with three young researchers who have lived and studied in China for the last 10 years. Pareja will ask them about their perceptions on contemporary China, the transformations of the political system, the changes in the Higher Education model or the role of women in Chinese society. The conversation, jointly organized with the Institut Barcelona Estudis Internacionals (IBEI), is part of the monongraphic issue &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/revistaidees.cat\/en\/monografics\/china-before-a-world-in-crisis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">China Before a World in Crisis<\/a>&#8220;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Participants:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Meijie Jiang (Universitat Pompeu Fabra)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Chao Zhang (Chinese Academy of Social Sciences)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Joan Vicens Sard (ACCI\u00d3, Generalitat de Catalunya)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Chair: Pablo Pareja (Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Institut Barcelona d\u2019Estudis Internacionals).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is a hybrid event to be streamed from IBEI&#8217;s Room 24.130, at the Merc\u00e8 Rodoreda&#8217;s building of Universitat Pompeu Fabra&#8217;s Ciutadella Campus (Carrer de Ramon Trias Fargas, 25, Barcelona).
