Kate Tempest
Kate Esther Calvert (Brockley, 1985), best known as Kate Tempest, is an English poet, spoken word performer, dramatist, rapper and playwright. In 2013, she was awarded with the prestigious Ted Hughes poetry prize for her compilation Brand New Ancients, in acknowledgement of her innovative point of view in the genre. In May 2014, she released her first album, Everybody Down, by which she was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize. In September 2016, her second album Let Them Eat Chaos was released. The Poetry Book Society considers Tempest the most relevant new poetic voice in the English language and she has been named a Next Generation Poet.
