Living conditions and social inequality are factors affecting health, and also perceptions of health: the lower the social class, the poorer the reported state of health. In general, men have a better perception of their health than women.

The figures show that better off people not only have fewer health problems, but that they perceive fewer gender imbalances with regard to their physical and mental health. Health inequalities between men and women in the middle and lower classes are greater.
